No official plot yet, but the original was set in Japan, where violence among the youth have sky-rocketed, leaving the government to create a program dubbed "Battle Royale", in which a class of 40-something jr. high students are sent to a remote island to battle one another, with only one to survive.

- A remake of the controversial 2000 Japanese film with the same name.
- Announced back in 2006, development of the project was haulted in 2007 due to the unfortunate events at Virginia Tech and is now believed to be dead or in a state of limbo.
- Supposedly the film was intended to receive an R rating.
- It's said that an idea that was quickly brushed off was to have the students possibly part of some sort of juvenile detention system, which was going to be one way to "tone down" the storyline for us apparently squeemish American audiences.
- Produced by Roy Lee (The Ring, The Grudge) with Neal Moritz (I Am Legend).
