U guys say what u want about remakes...I have become a horror fan only lately and after seeing "A nightmare on Elm street" by Wes Craven I was like...gr8 idea, bad acting and special effects? Let's just say I laughed during parts of the movie...Of course this doesn't make the movie a bad one, quiet the contrary, I loved it, the story was so compelling and I did enjoy the killings, plus, let's face it, the times were different(gr8 job Wes). However, I'm sorry 4 saying this, probably I'll be crucified for it, but I am really looking forward to this remake, I can't w8 2 c it hoping that it might scare me just like the remake from "The Texas chainsaw massacre" did...by the way...off topic...do u guys know what the movie title of "The Texas chainsaw massacre" translates to in Italian? "Non aprite quella porta", which is kinda an outrage, it literally means "Do not open that door"...no wonder people in Italy didn't go and c it...
To me there is only the original Freddy, BUT I will give it a chance...I saw a trailer for it online, and the "new" Freddy I didn't like his voice too much.
i would like to see another eveil dead movie, NOT A REMAKE EITHER!!! just another one to add to the trilogy...
Nobody's gonna lynch anybody here

... even though I highly disagree.
Okay, I do actuallly think Freddy was weaksauce in the original compared to how he was in many other films (Hopefully no one will lynch me for that! XD), too much of a generic "boo! I'm gonna get you!" monster too much of the time, but the atmosphere and performances (I personally thought the acting was OK and the special effects weren't bad at all, much better than your average CGI creations) make it a classic to me. I definitely don't think it'll be easy for any director to "sleepwalk through" remaking it >.>
With that said, I honestly think Jackie Haley may hold his own against Robert (Albeit in a much different way), but he is by far one of the least worrisome things I've heard about the remake. I've heard awful things about the script (The worst being the way it ends), and seen some middling to uninspired direction from the trailer. IMO yeah, it could end up like the Texas Chainsaw remake... It's just that I thought the Texas Chainsaw remake was "average" at best and downright "bad" when you compare it to the original.
I hope the Nightmare remake will be a classic all it's own, but with what I've heard of it, I don't have high hopes

Nah I love Remakes, the only remake I hate is RZ's worthless piece of shit Halloween/H2.
I am very interested in seeing the movie, it looks really cool. I liked the new Friday the 13th, so I am hoping this one will be good as well.
I loved the original and Freddy is my favorite horror villain of all time. The original had great effects for it's time, an original story and a great villainous performance. Though, I don't know where you laughed during the movie... you have to understand Freddy and his nature to know why he does the things he does and why it seems perverted and funny/odd. The original Nightmare on Elm Street is a great example of a feminist movie.
As for the remake, I am looking forward to it and I think Jackie can be a great Freddy but like what Briggs said, he made his own against Robert. however, Briggs also said there are some script problems... I aint getting my hopes up high.

Agreed. H2 sucked.
I think we should keep the hopes high here. Nightmare will be amazing. Keep the faith!

We should!!! It's Michael Bay after all and so far? I have only liked all that he's done
If they had Marcus Nispel directing, I would be way more hopeful.
he did a good job with Friday the 13th, i wanna see this one.
I think that Michael Bay can make a very convincing and great long action movie, but his producing choices are awful. Amityville was great, the rest was shit. Hopefully Nightmare on Elm will be good.
I liked F13th & TCM Remake.
With the TCM remake, it had unnecessary brutality. The edge of the original was gone and so was the grittiness and heat. I, however, will admit that compared to most remakes... it is significantly better.
The original Nightmare on Elm Street is the only good one in the series, in my opinion. But I am way excited for this remake, new Freddy is the most exciting part, I loved Jackie Earl Haley as Rorschach in Watchmen, pretty much the only good part about that awful movie with the worst story in the world.

How is brutality unnecessary?
I mean it is a Remake not a Rehash...
And plus you gotta love Brutality!
this is very cool... i love nightmare on elm street... and i love freddy too.. lol...
see my signature that's what the young girl in the film who run into an old, condemned house, which bears resemblance to Nancy's house was singing. And as Kristen follows the little girl she begins to realize that she's in trouble because of the kickass song. She finds the girl in a boiler room. As she hears someone walking above them, the little girl exclaims, "Freddy's home!",,,lol..very creepy...
I believe that the remake was brutal at all. TCMTB was the more brutal one
I mean TCM isn't a fucking Sesame Street cartoon lol...
What do ya expect?
