mrblueFright Night remake moves up release date
#1
Craig Gillespie's Fright Night 3D has been pushed up from an October release to an August 19, 2011 debut. Coincidentally, the original Fright Night, directed by Tom Holland, was also an August release back in 1985.The move can only mean Dreamworks is excited to get the film out there and they're confident it can perform in the summer market (which will be busy next year). This is also confirmation that the redo is arriving in 3D. But it's not being post-converted, it is shot in 3D.Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, Imogen Poots, David Tennant, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Toni Collette star in this re-telling of a young man who discovers a vampire has moved in next door to him. He enlists a Vegas performer, Peter Vincent, to help him slay the bloodsucker---shocktillyoudrop.com

Fright Night =/= a film I think 3D would do any good for. Still, glad it's being shot that way, not converted. Collector 2's gonna be shot in 3D as well, maybe people are actually gonna stop doing the process the cheap ass way Tongue.
“The Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audience’s deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... I’d better stop before I give myself nightmares”

you maybe right there but we still have to deal with all the old movies getting converted to 3D for special re-releases and Blu-Ray releases Ghost

I re-watched the original. I'll probably do the same thing 6 days after my birthday next year.

Colin is playing neck muncher Jerry Dandridge. Great choice.

Nope, it's gonna be Anton Yelchin of Charlie Bartlett fame... I don't think I like that too much. He's got kind of the same face as William Ragsdale at the time, but doesn't seem to play the same kind of frustrated-yet-well-meaning personality. Farrel's playing Jerry Dandrige, which give me more mixed feelings. The guy has the right sort of face and an OK acting range...

Briggs, you concerns are exactly mine as well. Even the choice of casting Mintz-Plasse seems a little off because he doesn't seem like he could be 'crazy' enough... I guess. Tennant was a good choice though.

I am personally pessimistic about David Tennant as Peter Vincent. I think he has much too much of a youthful air to him whereas what I think really categorizes Peter Vincent is the sense of being refined yet cynical from having "been in the business" and having to deal with the fandoms that come with it for a long time.

Briggs, why don't you ever write and publish internet essays on horror?

I think David Tennant will be great as Peter Vincent. Quirky, Eccentric floppy Englishman... Perfect casting.
