The original is such an uncomfortable and unforgiving movie I'm not sure how this one could match it, at least in theaters where they will have to go for an R rating. That said I do think the trailer looks really good. This movie has the potential to be pretty entertaining I think, though I might wait for an unrated DVD before checking it out.

It's going to be hard to remake this one, honestly. I mean, the first one was so gritty. The convicts in it looked like they could really do some shit like that in real life. It had some what of a real feeling to it. The remake looks cool, though. I'm sure I'll check it out while it's in theaters.

By the way, i hate movies that do this. What am I talking about? They showed the WHOLE fucking movie in the previews! Sad

I was having a discussion with a friend of mine a week or so ago and the subject of trailers came up. Cutting a great trailer is an art form, which I'm beginning to think has been lost. At least when it comes to the big studios.

I agree with you. IMO Cloverfield had a pretty good one. Especially their teaser back when it was codenamed 1-18-08. You watched that and were just like WTF? I want to know more!

Any opinions on this move yet? I'm going to go see it in a day or two. Some friends of mine went to see it and they said it was a good movie. They saw it with an open-mind, as well. I'm positive they didn't even know that this film was a remake. So, I guess it's a good movie, but for me, it's going to be hard for them to capture that same feel.

Well I actually went and saw this over the weekend and I wasn't really surprised by what it was. First off, if you are looking at it as another of many of the LHOTL ripoff's ever made, then it's enjoyable to an extent. The ending is one of the strangest and goofiest fucking things I've ever seen in a movie of this type though.

It sorely missed Hess's version of Krug, it had one nasty rape scene and it wasn't nearly as nihilistic or mean spirited as the original. Then again, who really thought it would be though?
