THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE (original). This one still effects me the same way it did the first time I saw it about 20 years ago. I guess it's the gritty realism of the film -- you can almost feel the sweltering heat, smell the stench of Leatherface and his surroundings.
Another one that gave me goosebumps was RINGU, the first time I saw it. I remember my wife was out of town that weekend, and after I finished watching the movie I slept facing the wall. I just knew if I turned around Sadako would be standing over me, staring at me with that one wild eye through her long black locks.
What a great feeling. Not something that happens very often to this jaded old horror fan, to say the very least.
