Did anyone else think that Dreamcatcher was supposed to be funny, with all those shit weasels and fart gags? I've been told they were all playing it straight, but I'm not sure....

No, Dreamcatcher was supposed to be serious because that's the way the book was written but maybe King intended to have dark comedy. It's pretty funny that the aliens create "shit weasels" because that's the common stereotype with aliens… that they anally probe you.
