LolliePop Wrote:What Clive Barker said about Revelations is amusing and not surprising. Who would want to be associated with a rushed, cobbled together mess that everyone sees as an abomination?
On the remake... how can you take a concept that gained inspiration via the author's experiences in S&M clubs and translate that to the teenie market? Pleasure and pain, indivisible and derived from mutilation... and they are giving this to those still classed as children? Ofcourse they won't. Which is why this is doomed to fail. The entire basis for the cenobites' existence is blown right out of the water. You can't have this element minus the physical torture. They are luring the likes of Frank Cotton - a sadist and a pervert who has run out of human thrills. He's not chasing that puzzle box for anything less than the ultimate sensory experience. You can't have that without an adult rating. Useless.
The whole "youthful approach" thing is just a rumor. The Hellraiser remake is supposedly a priority for Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer, the guys who did the My Bloody Valentine remake and Drive Angry. News about it has been sparse, but what they've said about it in interviews and written Q&As seems to imply that they fully intend on staying within that world Clive Barker created and expanding on it while pushing for a hard-R rating. Last I heard, they were trying to bring Barker on board at least as a creative consultant of sorts. At least that's the gist of what many movie sites have posted up until now.
