Friday The 13th‘Fright Night’ Remake Plot Revealed
#1
As I type, the remake to the 1985 cult classic Fright Night is currently in the processed of being worked on and we now have an official plot line to go with it. Here goes:

Senior Charlie Brewster (Anton Yelchin) finally has it all going on: he’s running with the popular crowd and dating the most coveted girl in his high school. In fact, he’s so cool he’s even dissing his best friend. But trouble arrives when Jerry (Colin Farrell) moves in next door. He seems like a great guy at first, but there’s something not quite right—but everyone, including Charlie’s mom (Toni Collette), doesn’t notice. After observing some very strange activity, Charlie comes to an unmistakable conclusion: Jerry is a vampire preying on the neighborhood. Unable to convince anyone, Charlie has to find a way to get rid of the monster himself in this Craig Gillespie-helmed revamp of the comedy-horror classic.

So needless to say, the storyline certainly sticks to the original so this could be a good one or it could burn big time and although there were angry fans who couldn’t believe there was even talks of a remake, the outcome of remarks has been surprisingly positive. The cast is also very different from the original as Colin Farrell will portray the infamous vampire Jerry Dandrige, David Tennant who will play Peter Vincent, Anton Yelchin who plays the scaredy cat neighbor Charley Brewster, and of course there’s Christopher Mintz-Plasse who will play the ‘Evil’ Ed Thompson. What’s really cool is that sources close to the production have mentioned that Chris Sarandon, who played the original Jerry Dandrige, will have a role in the remake as well even though it may just be a cameo.

Doesn't seem that far removed from the original plot, could even turn out deeper... as I am most always though, I'm pessimistic
“The Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audience’s deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... I’d better stop before I give myself nightmares”

So... Charlie isn't the lovable horror geek but rather some kid who thinks his shit don't stink. Nice. Real nice. :reddisgust:

Well the reason it doesn't tick me off is because movie nerds can still be popular jerks (at least in this day and age), and in the original he was kind of regarding Ed with deep cynicism at the start although the two were obviously on some kind of good terms, which, taken a little further could mean he was Evil's best pal but feels he's "outgrown" him due to his acceptance in the remake.
