Friday The 13th Wrote:I agree, somewhat.
The only remake that sucked that I know of, is Halloween.
But other then that we need Remakes...
Life is better with variety, not just old, but new!
Honestly? What about the new Fog or The Hitcher? The new Wicker Man? In my opinion and a lot of others' those were awful, and several other remakes were very mediocre, especially compared to the originals. Watching a film many times can get boring, but when watching a remake isn't enjoyable, it's irritating.
I like variety too, and there are certainly some movies that could be remade better... But when a remake does suck, it sort of closes the door on possibilities for old continuities; A bad remake doesn't tarnish the original, though it can devalue it sometimes. Variety, IMO, should be more about new ideas than reviving old ones.
âThe Fright Night remake is a film which taps into the audienceâs deepest rooted fears, such as those of vampires throwing motorcycles at them. I dread the thought of a vampire throwing a refrigerator or a deskjet printer or... Iâd better stop before I give myself nightmaresâ
